Swords of Legends set in the Tang dynasty tells the story of Han Yuxi later named Baili Tsusu who becomes infected by an evil, extremely powerful sword called Sword of Burning Solitude. The sword of burning story actually has an interesting background story which is later explained throughout the episodes.
This drama has a clever storyline and a very intense, heart breaking plot which may surprise some viewers. At first I thought this drama was going to be one of this boring friendship dramas where people hate each other then eventually love each other with romance here and there. Basically a high school drama. But I was definitely wrong.
The character Baili Tususu is really interesting. He acts big and tough and may come across as heartless but he is actually a big softy who cares deeply for people. The chemistry between the leads was great but isn't the best the seen. The drama has unexpected plot twist like the long lost brothers finally being reunited. Fan Lansheng (Ma Tianyu) is such a funny and humorous character who is actually nothing like his older brother. At the last episode his character completely changes and becomes mature like his older brother.
I felt really bad for the fox demon as the one she eventually loved had to leave her to marry someone else and she also already met her parents she was desperately looking for. I was actually disappointed by the ending and wished that Feng Qingxue (Yang Mi) could at least have seen Baili Tusu's (Li Yifeng) spirit and smile at her. I think that's how the drama should have ended.
I have to mention acotr Li Yifeng the actor who played the role Baili Tsusu/Han Yuxi. His acting in this drama was absolutely amazing. From being sad, angry, the screaming/ yelling and chemistry with Yang Mi was really impressive. Lu Yifeng also stars in the drama Legend of Chusen which came out in 2016 and has 2 seasons.
