Never Gone (2016)

Updated: Aug 28, 2018

WARNING: This post contains spoilers - this was the 2nd blog post I did so it sadly isn't that good , sorry.

So Young 2: You’re still here also known as So Young 2: Never Gone is a Chinese movie staring Kris Wu a former member of Kpop group EXO-M and Crystal Liu said to be one of the most beautiful actresses in China.

This is a romantic love story between two high schoolers. Cheng Zheng (Kris Wu) a popular star student from a wealthy family and Su Yunjin (Crystal Liu) a transfer student from a poor struggling family. At first Cheng Zheng has no interest in Su Yunjin. Su Yunjin gets bullied from other students for her social status. Struggling with her grades Cheng Zheng feeling sympathetic towards Su Yunjin eventually offers to become her tutor for free. Su Yunjin having a very shy personality tries to avoid Cheng Zheng but they eventually develop a friendship between each other. After graduation they end up living together as an couple.

Through two years of living together Su Yunjin is having money struggles which leads to the couples separation. During the night they broke up Cheng Zheng states “For seven years you’ve never loved me”. In the end Su Yunjin end up realizing that she actually loves him as she coincidentally she’s him in New York.

This movie was really touching. The emotions between the leads WOW. I could feel the emotions from Liu Crystal’s character and it took her so long to realize she loves him . She thought that she couldn’t be with him because of her social status. Su Yunjin has a very shy, quiet personality and is a character that many people can relate to. The chemistry between the characters, the feeling of loneliness, sadness, anxiety was all there. Kris Wu’s acting was very impressive as if he’s a well experienced actor. Crystal Liu being a very well experienced actress was able to convey all of these strong emotions and develop an amazing chemistry with Kris Wu. The romance seemed very realistic and can relate with many viewers who may have experienced something similar. This movie almost made me teary as I wished that they would be together at the end.

I would recommend people who love sad romance stories or romance to watch this movie as you may shed a tear here and there.
